I bought one of these about two years ago, and have used it from time to time. I think the design idea is excellent, but mine jammed several times, had the blade slip out several times, and finally irrevocably jam and break. I am gentle with tools, and don't "use a bigger wrench to make it fit". This thing is just a bit flimsy. However, I do like it and when it was working - which was most of the time - it was better than a regular utility knife. Because.... you can break off a 1/2" section and have a new point on the blade; you can make the blade from 1/4" to 2 1/2" nice when cutting insulation for eg.; you could carry 6 or so blades in the handle and simply (usually)slide out the old one and the new one would slip into place. I don't like tools that don't work right. Warning - They may have improved it, but I don't know that. I think I am going to try the larger model with the 1" blades. It looks slightly different and from what I could see, looks more heavy duty. I'll let you know.....
I GOT THE 1" MODEL - IT HAS A BLADE LOCKING SCREW ONLY; NO SLIDING CLICK LOCK. I hate caps lock... It is bigger than the previous model - I have big hands, so it was ok, but not great. I then got the Improved model with the 18mm (3/4") blades that slide and click lock and have a thumb screw like the first one I got. It is as big around as the 1" model. Why? Different mechanism. It is bigger than I would like, but I think it will be ok... And I bumped the rating to 4 star
